U.S. Bank National Association v. Clark, 837 N.E.2d 74 (Ill. 2005)

VBLH&C saw this case through the five years of litigation necessary to establish that the Depository Institutions Deregulation and Monetary Control Act of 1980 preempted an Illinois state law imposing restrictions on points connected with mortgage loans.  VBLH&C was lead counsel in the trial court and obtained a victory there.  But the appellate court reversed.  Then, based on a petition for leave to appeal drafted by VBLH&C, the Illinois Supreme Court granted review.  The Illinois Supreme Court reinstated – and expanded on – the trial court victory.
